ABOUT THE CHAIRPERSON
MSA: University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA)
Year of study: 5th
Bio: Abdulhammed Babatunde is a medical student at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a Youth Research Facilitator at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), and a member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH).
He is a social innovator, a budding global health researcher, and a serial volunteer. He won the National World AIDS Day Ideation contests in 2019 and 2021 for his innovation in promoting HIV services among Nigerian youths. He co-founded MyBelle, a digital innovation that seeks to improve the pregnancy experience of Nigerian women which emerged as grand prize winner of $25000 at the Fishbowl Challenge 2021. He is the Founder and Director of Healthy Africans Platform, an organization currently impacting about 1000 students through its substance abuse initiative. He is the Director of Graphics at the SmileBuilders Initiative, an Ambassador of the Asido Foundation, and has volunteered in over 20 community outreaches and impacted over 2000 beneficiaries. He has published 13 research papers that seek to drive policymaking and decision-making to improve Africa’s healthcare system.
MEDICAL RESEARCH shall be defined as the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of data to generate new knowledge or solve problems in the practice of medicine. Aims of medical research activity of FAMSA shall be;
- To encourage the training of medical students in research principles and procedures
- To emphasize and stimulate original thinking and initiative among medical students
- To coordinate research and appraise its practical application
- To collate and disseminate original findings.
