STANDING COMMITTEE ON MEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
SCOMER is one of the five standing committees under the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA) and functions to and functions mainly to promote medical education and research among medical students in Africa. A new team led by Dorcas Naa Dedei Aryeetey (from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana) was ushered into office on 18th march, 2014. Although SCOMER consists of all medical students’ associations across the continent, its activities are guided by a team of committed students from several universities across the different regions of Africa.
These students oversee SCOMER activities at regional country and medical school levels. Currently we have representatives eastern, Southern, western, and central regions of Africa.
Aims of SCOMER
* to encourage the training of medical students in research principles
* to emphasize and stimulate original thinking and initiative by medical
* to co-ordinate researches and appraise their practical application.
* to collate and discriminate original findings.
